Akuma and the Season 2 patch were released towards the end of May. Leading up to this event, many believed that Akuma would dominate the meta as he has consistently been a top tier threat throughout most of the Street Fighter series.
Over a week ago, Veggey released a tier list for Street Fighter 6 Season 2. Needless to say, Veggey’s tier list does indicate that Akuma does in fact have the potential to be extremely relevant this season.
Placing Akuma at the very top of S tier, Veggey believes that Akuma has the potential to be the best character in the game. Though the patch did make it a point to nerf Luke, Ken, Dee Jay, and JP, they can also be found in the S tier category of Veggey’s rankings.
It would seem that Zangief was able to emerge from the Season 2 update as one of the big winners. Due to this, Zangief can be located at the very top of the A+ group of this tier list.
A.K.I. also appears to have received some meaningful buffs from the big patch. She’s been positioned as the third highest A+ tier character under Zangief and Cammy.
Who knows how well this tier list will hold up in the long run. It’s certainly worth noting that M. Bison will be releasing on June 26 as the first DLC fighter of Season 2.
Additionally, the developers have already suggested that there may be more smaller balance patches throughout the season instead of just one big balance patch at the end of the season. Therefore, this tier list is likely going to see changes very soon.
