Street Fighter 6 may be gauging interest on future DLC characters, but who do you most want to see added to the cast?

The first year of content recently wrapped up in Street Fighter 6 with the launch of Akuma, but there’s still plenty more planned on the horizon.

Capcom themselves may be currently gauging player interest on future DLC prospects as part of their 1st anniversary celebrations, but we’d also like to know who you all would most want to see added to SF6 in your own dream season.

The developers are currently running a new “Who’s Your Top Tier?” Street Voter campaign in the Battle Hub to ask players about their favorite character from the series, and they include basically anyone who’s ever been on any official Street Fighter roster, not just those in SF6 now.

Although they haven’t confirmed the voting results will have any impact on future DLC character selection, it is an excellent way for Capcom to more accurately measure how their actual playerbase feels about the expanded roster of fighters who could pop back up.

That’s because the votes are limited to people who own the game and are actively involved with it now after a year. Yes, players can earn extra votes, but Capcom themselves can see on a more granular level of who picked what.

So we have decided to put together our own poll using the same characters not already in SF6 to pick your dream season of DLC.

Instead of just one vote, you can have up to four since that’s how many characters were included in this first year’s pass with Rashid, A.K.I., Ed and Akuma.

By our count, there’s 71 listed characters going all the way back to the original Street Fighter. If they’ve ever been on a roster, they’re probably here.

That even includes some one-time additions like Ingrid, Violent Ken and freaking Captain Sawada with the only notable exceptions being the Street Fighter EX original cast and like Shin Akuma.

There’s also no crossover exclusive fighters like Shadow Lady or Sunburned Sakura in Capcom’s options nor expanded universe like Final Final and Rival Schools, so they won’t be here either.

If these character popularity rankings do actually end up factoring in on future DLC picks, we still probably won’t see that come to fruition for quite some time, however.

The SF6 developers recently revealed it took them around two years to create a new character from concept to realization like Jamie and six months to complete a fighter model in this game.

These would basically all be returning characters, so they may not take quite that long though it still isn’t happening soon.

SF6’s Year 2 DLC roster has assuredly already been picked out and in development, and we know for certain that’s on the horizon since icons for the character packs have appeared online now.

So we’re probably looking to at least the latter half of Year 3 before poll picks specifically could become a reality in the game itself.

And that’s arguably more so for fighters who perhaps don’t already have massive fan bases like Sagat and Sakura, who the developers were assuredly eyeing even before the campaign, but could still sway decisions one way or another.

It seems unlikely that we’d get both G and Q in the same game, for example, so a lot more people voting for the president would likely increase his chances of returning over the Street Fighter 3 rep.

We could be learning who at least the first pick is for Year 2 as soon as this week with SF6 and more fighting game announcements teased for the Summer Game Fest.

You can vote for who you want to see return in Street Fighter 6 the most in our latest poll below.
