PlayStation’s State of Play returns on May 30, includes 14 games

PlayStation has announced today that it’s holding its latest State of Play livestream on May 30 at 3pm PT. According to Sony, the event will air for 30+ minutes (which likely means closer to 40 minutes based on past experience) and will feature updates on 14 PlayStation 5 and PSVR2 games. The show will mostly focus on games that are coming out later in 2024.

The company has not, at this time, given any further details about the show. However, given that we’re nearing the period of summer games events — formerly the territory of E3, now more distributed — it’s possible that Sony might offer some sneak peeks at its major upcoming titles to capture some public attention. One of the titles most rumored to make its debut is a new Astrobot game.

Konami also announced that its Silent Hill Transmission event is airing directly after the State of Play. Though Konami technically announced its showcase first, it’s possible the two shows will share some games in common, with the Silent Hill 2 Remake being a likely crossover point between them. It’s possible that Sony may be saving bigger or flashier game trailers — with Kingdom Hearts 4 being a likely candidate for one — for a special showcase or Summer Game Fest.
