Id Software shows off Doom: The Dark Ages for 2025

Bethesda’s id Software studio showed off Doom: The Dark Ages coming for 2025

The company, owned by Microsoft, made the announcement at Microsoft’s Xbox showcase today. The trailer showed a lot of action in the style of Doom 2016/Doom Eternal, the most recent editions of the decades-old franchise.

The Doom Guy soldier had a different kind of helmet/suit, but it featured some familiar extreme combat action moving at high speed. It got cheers from the audience in the Academy Awards Museum theater where the official viewing party took place. It featured a classic double-barreled handheld shotgun at the outset, but plenty of other weapons as well. The Doom Guy was wearing modern space armor with fur from a Viking style suit.

id Software said the game is a single-player, action first-person shooter and prequel to the critically acclaimed Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal will see players step into the blood-stained boots of the Doom Slayer, the ultimate super weapon of Gods and Kings, in a medieval war against Hell.
