As part of the June 2024 Nintendo Direct announcements, the previously Apple Arcade exclusive RPG Fantasian is coming to Nintendo Switch this holiday season. It is dubbed Fantasian: Neo Dimension and it’s the latest game from developer Mistwalker, which is led by Final Fantasy series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. Fantasian is a full-fledged story-driven RPG with turn-based combat and features music from longtime Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu.
One of the unique things about Fantasian is that its environments were initially conceptualized physical diorama before being made for the game. It features unique combat mechanics that have you account for enemy positioning and the space around combat arenas. There’s also a smart implementation on how to handle random encounters, which lets you essentially stock up on random encounters and take care of them in one fell swoop, mitigating interuptions in exploration. Fantasian: Neo Dimension will launch on PlayStation and Xbox consoles and PC via Steam as well, and will feature significant visual upgrades.
