Backbone announced a new collaboration with Grammy-nominated artist Austin “Post Malone” Post: A new version of the Backbone One clip-on mobile controller. The new version is branded with Post’s name in glow-in-the-dark letters and premium packaging. It officially launches on June 25.
The Post Malone Limited Edition controller is translucent green and features updated detailing that lines up with Post’s branding, as well as an aluminum D-pad and ABXY buttons. Backbone will only make 500 units of this Limited Edition, which will be available on its website for $199.99.
Backbone founder and CEO Maneet Khaira said of the collaboration in a statement, “We are thrilled to unveil our latest groundbreaking collaboration alongside Post Malone and his dedicated team. The fusion of Post Malone’s renowned brand and his genuine passion for gaming with the category-defining Backbone platform felt like a perfect match.”
Post said in a statement that he himself uses the Backbone One while touring: “Backbone found the perfect solution to bring gaming on the road. My schedule makes it difficult to game from home as much as I want. Grateful to collaborate with them on this release :)” The games he plays on the Backbone app allegedly include WWE 2K24, Apex Legends and Hunt Showdown.
