Anker Recalls 321 Power Bank Due to Overheating Concerns

Anker is recalling its 321 Power Bank over concerns the device might pose a fire risk.

The 321 Power Bank (PowerCore 5k, Model Number A1112), can reportedly cause a fire thanks to a manufacturing defect. The company says the issue only impacts a “small number” of the devices; however, it has opted to recall all of them.

The device in question is a small power bank with two different ports, one for USB-C and another for USB-A. According to Anker, the lithium-ion battery in the power bank can overheat, potentially causing melting plastic components as well as smoke.

The company says the issue lies with a batch of batteries used in the products after March 2023; however, it is reaching out to all customers who have purchased the device out of an abundance of caution.

If you think you might have one of the impacted power banks, you can verify your model by looking at the bottom of the device and confirming it says Anker 321 Power Bank (PowerCore 5K, Black), Model: A1112.

If you have one of the affected power banks, Anker says to immediately stop using it and to store it in a safe location before disposing of it at a facility that accepts lithium batteries. You can verify that your specific power bank is included in the recall on the company’s website.
